Day 7 - May 23

We are at Woomera today which is popular because it is a government town created to launch rockets due to the area being out of the way and flat. Today we went and saw the Rocket Museum where we saw different displays of rockets and space equipment. We also went bowling. I got 3 strikes and Adam got 2 strikes. 1746km for 7 days travel.

Hello to everyone

Thanks to all our family and friends who are following us on the blog - we really like writing our blog everyday. Sometimes we don't have internet so we can't update every night.
I have just posted four entries for Brock so for those who are following Brock you may have to go back a few days to read what he has written. Brock's posts start off with Day # - May ## if anyone wants to access his stuff via the log on the right.
We love to hear your comments too - just click on Comment under the post to comment back to us.
We have been on the road for 7 days and are heading to Coober Pedy tomorrow. We have had cold weather the last few days and heavy rain today. We are lucky to have the motorhome to keep us warm and dry!
Lots of love to everyone back home, Take Care and hope to hear from you soon. XXXX D & D.

Peterborough

Day 6. On Saturday we sleeped at Peterborough. We rided our bikes once around the town. It took us 296km to get there. That's 3 hours from Broken Hill to Peterborough.

Silverton

Day 5 May 21. We went to Silverton and saw the Mad Max car. There was 39 dips in the road from Broken Hill to Silverton, but we only counted 25 dips and 13 floodways.

Broken Hill Day 5

We went to the School of the Air.

The school teaches children on farm stations far away from town. They use radio and satellite to talk to the children every school day. The children also learn by completing parcels of work delivered by outback mail.

Day 6 - May 22

Today we are at Peterborough. Tonight we are staying at a free camp off the side of the road with some other campers. Later in the day we rode into town on our bikes to buy some fruit & vegies which were confiscated on the way to Peterborough by quarantine inspectors. While we were riding in the town dad fell off his bike on top of me. 1419 km.

Mildura

May 20 - Arrived in Mildura and found a fabulous free camp by Kings Billabong. Met a lovely couple - Margaret & Harry and shared camp area with them. They have been on the road for over 12 months! Being experienced motorhome travellers they gave us some good tips.

Day 3/4 - May 19th / 20th

On day 3 we decided to camp next to a river and a pump house, we also met two people called Margaret and Harry who owned a motorhome bigger than ours. 802 km.
On day 4 we stayed at Broken Hill Caravan Park and rode our bikes a lot. At night we went out for dinner at the pub and me and Adam (little brother) used up $24 of games.
1123km.

Broken Hill

Hi every one in 2LC I was wondering if you were going great in investigations?

I've been working on a story called "fuzzball". I will do another blog post about fuzzball sometime.

Today I went to an airport.

I got to look inside a plane because a friend of Mum and Dad's let us look in.

The plane was a Royal Flying Doctor plane.

The plane travels around the Australia outback.

It helps sick people get to hospital far away.

Broken Hill

Good day travelling to Broken Hill on May 20 - Met up with Dave & Allison and went out for dinner - planning a big day of sightseeing for Friday.

Nyah (near Swan Hill)

We're at Nyah near Swan Hill this morning. We have just woken up in the morning and had some jokes. I've been riding my bike and scooter and it is very fun. We saw Ebony at Maryborough. She rides horses and I fed the pony a carrot twice and the big horse once. The big horses name was Ned. The dogs names were Lucy and Zac. Lucy was the black one, and Zac was the orange one.

Maryborough May 17 - 18

We travelled from Leongatha to Maryborough 326 kilometres.

Stayed at Ross & Cheryle's house – a lovely property. Their lovely daughter Ebony was great to Brock & Adam – she took them for a ride on their quad bike. They have several horses on the property and Ebony competes in events regularly and rides everyday. They ha ve 2 dogs called Lucy and Zac – Buster would be jealous! We were treated to a yummy dinner and desert at their home tonight
Ross & Cheryle have a fantastic well run newsagency and a team of dedicated and enthusiatic staff.

Day 1 - May 17th 326km

We left our house today at 9.30am and kept on driving for 4 1/2 hours, when we stopped at Maryborough and stayed the night at a friends place. We also got a ride from Ebony on the motorbike.

Farewell - May 17

We farewelled family and friends over the weekend and are very excited about our adventure ahead.
We called into the shop to say Goodbye to everyone. I had tears in my eyes when I hugged the girls at the shop and said goodbye as I was so grateful for everyone's efforts which enable us to have 4 months away.

On the drive-by past the shop all the girls were out the front waving Aussie Flags as we made our departure from our home town.

By the time we got to Ruby (5km) Adam was calling out to me ... "Mum I'm hungry!"

Day 1 – May 17th
