Day 12 - May 28th.

Today we stayed at Curtin Springs. At 12.30pm we did a walk around Kata Tjuta. It was just awesome - better than Ayers Rock because you could explore it. Today was a very good day.
P.S. I took 61 photos on my DSi.

Day 11 - May 27th.

On May 27th we camped over at Curtin Springs near Mt. Conner. We also went on a drive to Ayers Rock (Uluru) and when we did get there it was a lot bigger than I thought it would be.
That night we collected some firewood and toasted marshmallows on the fire.
P.S. I climbed Ulura (a bit)

Day 10 - May 26th

Day 10 was a fun day. On the way to our destination we stopped at Marla for lunch where we also got wet under the sprinklers.
When we reached the Kulgera Roadhouse we went for a bike ride and we also went climbing up some rocks. I also climbed a rock and claimed it as my rock. 2558km.

Day 9 - May 25th

Coober Pedy.Today was a very big day. In the morning we went for a swim (very cold) and we played on the playground a lot. In the afternoon we went on a Stuart range park tour which took us on a 4 1/2 hour excursion to a opal mine where we saw how they dug the holes and how they used the dynamite. We also saw a movie about the first people who discovered opals. Also on the tour we went out in the desert and saw some interesting things, like the dog fence which goes from South Australia through the Northern Territory and up to Queensland (over 5000km longest fence in the world).Later on we went even further into the desert and then the tour guide man announced that we were in the middle of what used to be the deepest part of the inland Australian ocean called the Artesian Basin.Just before the sun was setting we went to the area where the movies Escape from the Red Planet, and Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunderdome was filmed. I thought that today was great.

Curtin Springs, The Olgas (Kata Tjuta)

Day 12.We went back to Ayers Rock, took a few pictures and went to the Olgas. We had a picnic lunch then we walked atoung the Olgas. It was a long, long walk (9.6km). We did some rock climbing on the walk, we saw some streams, a lizard and a red cricket, a lot of birds.Back at the camp we saw some kids playing so we asked them if we could play. Well we just started playing naturally, and we played wars. We won the battle then we went back to the camp. Dad had started a fire. Then we started cooking marshmallows. We offered the kids some marshmallows. The kids names were Charlie and Lewis. Lewis was the boy and Charlie was the girl.

Curtin Springs, Ayers Rock (Uluru)

Day 11.On Thursday we went to Curtin Springs Station then we went to Uluru, which is Ayers Rock. It was the the biggest single rock I have ever seen. Until I saw Mt. Connor which isn't a single rock but is three times as big as Ayers Rock. Mum let us climb Ayers Rock a little bit.It was hot at Ayers Rock but then it started to rain so they closed climbing Ayers Rock and we went home. Then we got firewood and had a fire in the rain.

Kulgera Roadhouse.

Day 10.On Wednesday we travelled 433km from Coober Pedy to Kulgera Roadhouse. We went on a bike ride and the road was bumpy. We stopped at some rocks we climbed the big rocks. I was the first one to reach the top. I claimed two big rocks mine and Brock (big brother) claimed one his. When we were coming down Brock was the first one there. On the way back the road was still bumpy.

Coober Pedy.

Day 9.
On Tuesday we went on a bus tour. It was also Nanny's birthday. We went swimming in the morning.
On the bus tour we went to an underground mine tour and in the underground mine there was a movie theatre. We saw a lot of opal. The bus driver showed us the dynamite they used.
I bought the A opal necklace. We got to see the big big rocks. On the way back to there we saw lots of cool things. We saw a big big rock that looks like a camel. We also saw the underground church and the church has lots of things in it.
We also saw the dog fence. It keeps the dogs away from the sheep. The dog fence is over 5000km long.
We also saw some moon rocks. They used the place for Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunderdome and Escape the Red Planet.

Happy Birthday Gwenda

Happy Birthday Mum. Lots of Love from Dean.
(and Deb, Brock & Adam ) XXXXXXX

Hi to 5B

Hi to everyone in 5B - I was just wondering how you were going? I am doing some of my school work when we are driving along. But I am doing the blog when we have internet access. I hope you are having a good time. From Brock.

Day 8 - May 24

On day 8 we decided to stay at Coober Pedy which is the Opal capital of the World. Today we visited the Old Timers Mine and while we were there we got search for opals ourselves in a little rock "noodling" pit. I filled a small bag with opals and at the Old Timers Mine we got to go under the ground and see how the old timers found opals and how they mined for opals. At the Old Timers Mine they also showed us what underground houses look like (60% of people in Coober Pedy live underground). People live underground because in summer it is VERY VERY HOT and if they live underground it is much more cooler. For example 50 degrees above and 25 degrees below ground.

HI to 2LC

Thanks for writing to me on the blog comments. Hope you are having a good time.

Woomera

Day 7. On Sunday we went from Peterborough to Woomera which was 327 km. On the way there we stopped to look at a toy museum (Wilmington).

We love to hear your comments too - just click on Comment under the post to comment back to us.
We have been on the road for 7 days and are heading to Coober Pedy tomorrow. We have had cold weather the last few days and heavy rain today. We are lucky to have the motorhome to keep us warm and dry!

Broken Hill

Hi every one in 2LC I was wondering if you were going great in investigations?

I've been working on a story called "fuzzball". I will do another blog post about fuzzball sometime.

Today I went to an airport.

I got to look inside a plane because a friend of Mum and Dad's let us look in.

The plane was a Royal Flying Doctor plane.

The plane travels around the Australia outback.

It helps sick people get to hospital far away.

Broken Hill

Good day travelling to Broken Hill on May 20 - Met up with Dave & Allison and went out for dinner - planning a big day of sightseeing for Friday.

They have several horses on the property and Ebony competes in events regularly and rides everyday. They ha ve 2 dogs called Lucy and Zac – Buster would be jealous! Farewell - May 17

We farewelled family and friends over the weekend and are very excited about our adventure ahead.
We called into the shop to say Goodbye to everyone. I had tears in my eyes when I hugged the girls at the shop and said goodbye as I was so grateful for everyone's efforts which enable us to have 4 months away.

On the drive-by past the shop all the girls were out the front waving Aussie Flags as we made our departure from our home town.

By the time we got to Ruby (5km) Adam was calling out to me ... "Mum I'm hungry!"
