Exmouth / Cape Range National Park

Exmouth / Yardie Homestead Day 80. On Wednesday we arrived in Exmouth. Dad needed to fix the slideout because of a bolt. We explored the town. In the town there was a visitors centre, a diving shop, a baker, a butcher and a shopping centre. It also had a newsagents with a toyworld in it. But there wasnt many good toys. That day we had to stay at a caravan park called Yardie Homestead but it wasnt very good, so we went for a drive into the Cape Range National Park . In the national park was some camping areas - we looked at a few camping areas and decided that Mesa camp was one of the best. On the way home it got dark so we had to travel at night and we saw hundreds of kangaroos. We made it back safely without hitting a kangaroo.

Exmouth / Cape Range National Park - Bulgarra campsite. Day 81. On Thursday we got up but Dad got up before us because he had got up at 12 o'clock midnight to get us a spot in the National Park camp ground. On the way there 8km he had spotted 100 kangaroos! When Dada got back in the morning he said he was fourth in line but we still got a campspot. We bought some flippers at the visitor centre in the National Park. Then we went snorkelling. We saw lots of fish, also after that we went and joined everyone else for happy hour at the camp. At end of the day it turned out to be a very, very, very, very, very good day.

Cape Range National Park - Lakeside campsite. Day 82. After a wild and windy night we moved camp to Lakeside camp.Lakeside is exceptionally close to the beach and we were staying there - there was only 7 sites and we had site number 4, we were lucky to get in. We went into town to get supplies and on the way back we went to the lighthouse lookout and saw some whales swimming just off the coast! We visited the turtle centre then went back to camp. After that we went straight into our snorkelling gear and went to the best snorkelling spot. We saw nearly up to a million fish! Some were colorful reef fish and I saw a huge Manta ray he was over 2 metres. After we went snorkelling we had happy hour with our new camping neighbors.

Day 83. On Saturday it was windy overnight but in the morning it was calmer. We went to Turquoise Bay and we had a look at the bay and the drift snorkel beach. We decided to do the drift snorkel, in fact we did it twice! The first time we did it Mum saw a reef shark. I saw the reef shark as well and lots of colorful reef fish. I saw a blue dotted sting ray. After our snorkel we checked out the sand dunes as Jurabi coastal reserve. Brock and me rolled down the dunes, I was the fastest to roll down the dunes. We saw kite surfers and then we went into Exmouth and got fish & chips for dinner. We had happy hour when we got back to the campsite. It was our neighbors birthday.

Day 84. On Sunday August 8th we finished our 12th week of camping. We went snorkelling twice at Lakeside. We saw a turtle the first time and Brock and me swam with it. The second time we went snorkelling we saw lots of reef fish and I saw 3 huge clams, two were alive (open) but I think one was dead (closed). In the afternoon Brock and I played in the rock pools. Mum and I saw another spotted ray when we were walking in the shallow water. After dinner we went stargazing on the beach.
